Dexter: Resurrection Adds Neil Patrick Harris
Another big guest star is about to circle Dexter’s dark orbit: Neil Patrick Harris has joined the cast of this summer’s Paramount+ With Showtime revival Dexter: Resurrection, TVLine has learned.
While not much is known about Harris’ role, he’s set to play a character named Lowell. The series, which was first announced in July, will see Michael C. Hall reprise his role as serial killer Dexter Morgan, with franchise vets David Zayas (as Detective Angel Batista), James Remar (as Harry Morgan) and Jack Alcott (as Harrison Morgan) returning as well. A prequel, Dexter: Original Sin, wrapped its first season on Feb. 14.

Resurrection will also welcome Uma Thurman to the cast as Charley, a former special ops officer who works security for a mysterious billionaire played by Game of Thrones alum Peter Dinklage. In addition, Krysten Ritter is on board in a high-profile guest arc as Mia Lapierre, a famed sommelier whose alter ego is the “Lady Vengeance” serial killer.
Harris played Barney Stinson in CBS’ How I Met Your Mother, as well as Count Olaf in Netflix’s adaptation of A Series of Unfortunate Events. His big breakthrough came at the young age of 16 when he landed the title role in Doogie Howser, M.D. His recent memorable TV credits include Uncoupled, Doctor Who and How I Met Your Father.
