Denise Richards Reveals Which of Her Movies Her Daughters Are ‘Never’ Allowed to Watch
Denise Richards has a prolific body of work, appearing in over 120 movies and television shows, from soapy primetime series like Melrose Place to her 188-episode arc on The Bold and the Beautiful, as well as appearances in cult classic movies like Starship Troopers.
But as the mother of three recently shared, there’s one project she never wants her daughters to see.
In a recent cover story with People, Richards said her oldest daughter, 20-year-old Sami, “sent me a picture not that long ago on the airplane [saying], ‘Mom, you’re in this movie,’ and it was Drop Dead Gorgeous.”
Sami chimed in to note that it was both “really funny” and “weird,” because “I saw a lot of myself in her. Just looks-wise. I don’t know. I feel like we look a lot alike.”
Richards’ middle daughter, 19-year-old Lola, told the outlet that she’s also seen the 1999 film that also stars Kirsten Dunst and Allison Janney, and features 5-time Academy Award nominee Amy Adams’ first on-screen performance.
The sisters agreed that it's a bit strange watching their parents’ performances (their father is actor Charlie Sheen), with Sami explaining “it takes the magic away from it. It’s also hard to enjoy the movie and really put myself in the movie when I’m like, ‘Oh, there's my mom.’”
The one movie Richards hopes her children don’t see is the 1998 thriller Wild Things, where she played a conniving teenager embroiled in a sexual scandal.
As detailed by People, Sami turned to Richards to say “you've always told me not to,” pointing out that the film is perhaps Richards’ most well-known movie. “It's the name of our freaking reality show,” she said.
“I know, but yeah, the answer is no, not to ever see that again or ever. If there’s maybe a PG version, then she can, but I don’t even know how they would make it a PG version,” Richards explained.
In addition to Richards, Sami, and Lola, Richards’ youngest daughter, 13-year-old Eloise, will appear in the family’s upcoming Bravo series, premiering March 4.
