David Harbour has revealed he fell in love with his now wife Lily Allen on their third date – and she fell in love with him at first sight.

The Stranger Things actor, 47, tied the knot with singer superstar Allen in Las Vegas in September 2020, officiated by an Elvis impersonator no less.

When asked in a GQ magazine interview when he fell for her, Harbour responded, "She claims to have fallen in love at first sight with me – I mean, who wouldn't?

"I remember the exact moment. It was our third date. I was just in this phase, where I was like, 'I'm just going to be brutally honest about everything, because why lie?'

"And I told her something about my life, about my beliefs..."

He added, "It would take a really extraordinary person to be accepting of the things that I said. And I remember thinking: 'Wow, that's somebody I want to be around.'"

But, like many others now in the 'normal world', the pair found romance through a dating app – a celebrity one though of course, Raya.

Other celebs who have used the app in the past reportedly include Ben Affleck, Drew Barrymore and Demi Lovato, among others.

When Harbour and Allen aren't telling their fake second story about how they 'ran into each other backstage at a talk show', writer Jack King explains, they tell the truth.

"I was in London alone, doing Black Widow, on this app, going on dates and stuff," said Harbour.

"And yeah, I started texting with her, she was in Italy at the time – we got together, went on a date at the Wolseley, and it was, you know, she's f***ing unbelievable."

Harbour – best known for playing Jim Hopper in the Netflix series – is now stepfather to Lily's daughters Ethel, 10, and Marnie, nine, who she shares with ex Sam Cooper.

Allen – who recently joined Olivia Rodrigo on stage at Glastonbury to sing F*** You in response to the Roe V Wade ruling on abortion and spoke out about the topic on social media – often also shares sweet insights into their family life with the girls on Instagram, full of laughs.

Also commenting on season four of Stranger Things, Harbour lists his favourite moments including El’s climactic mind battle with Vecna and the "Empire Strikes Back cliffhanger" which sees Hawkins torn apart, in hellish flames.

“There’s like, huge rift earthquakes going through all of Indiana, one would assume,” he said. “So I don’t know what the f*** is gonna happen in season five now.”

But, on this season, reportedly the last, he adds, "I think as soon as the show ends, or maybe six months before it ends, you’ll be hearing about whatever spin-offs they have planned."

“At this point, I think Hopper is a character that can exist independent of me. If they wanna go back in time, forward in time… I’d love to see another actor play Hopper, and see what they can bring to it.”

Later, he suggests to GQ that Euphoria star Jacob Elordi could be the perfect fit for a young Hopper. "He could pull off being as handsome as I was at 20.”

Harbour isn't the only actor in his marriage, as Allen made her debut in the film adaptation of Caitlin Moran's How To Build A Girl, and more recently starred as the lead in 2:22: A Ghost Story in the West End.

Posting about it on Instagram last summer, he wrote, "Very proud of my slightly nervous, immensely brave, annoyingly talented wife @lilyallen who has her first preview of her play @222aghoststory tonight. Like, that she’s acting in!"

He added, jokingly, "If you’re in London check it out at the Noel Coward til October something. Also, very excited to announce I’ve been working on a pop album. Get ready, cause it’s gonna suck!"
