Daryl Hall Hints at 'Disappointments' and 'Shady Characters' Amid John Oates Rift
Daryl Hall is getting brutally honest about where he stands with former music partner John Oates.
Over a year after filing a lawsuit against Oates, his longtime music partner and the other half of their duo, Hall & Oates, Hall recently spoke out to address if there is any hope for reconciliation between the pair—and unfortunately, it's not looking good.
While speaking to UK news outlet The Times in a recent interview, Hall, 78, wasn't shy to admit that his career in the music business hasn't always been smooth sailing. Instead, the "Out of Touch" artist has dealt with plenty of conflict in the industry, including issues with his label, and now, even with his former music partner.
"I've been involved with some pretty shady characters over the years," he said. "That's where the problems start."
In November 2023, Hall sued Oates for attempting to sell his share of their jointly-owned company, Whole Oats Enterprises, without Hall's permission. Hall claimed to have been "blindsided" by Oates' actions, calling the ordeal the "ultimate partnership betrayal," per Billboard.
While Hall said he couldn't discuss any of the legal proceedings during his interview with The Times, he did share some insight on whether he could see himself making up with Oates, 76, or if that ship has sailed.
"That ship has gone to the bottom of the ocean," Hall bluntly stated, while insisting, "I’ve had a lot of surprises in my life, disappointments, betrayals, so I’m kind of used to it."
