Aside from festive parties and glamorous gifts, my favorite part of the holiday season is going to the New York City Ballet for a matinee viewing of The Nutcracker. Without fail, I get lost in the charm and whimsy of it all and leave the theater with the urge to pirouette back to my apartment.

Alas, the reality sets in that I'm not a formally trained dancer and, sadly, don't even own a pair of ballet flats. Thankfully, however, the latter half of the equation is easily solvable. Ballet flats have always retained an elegant yet wearable solution for those wanting to bring a bit of balletcore into their wardrobe. And now the style comes in many updated versions that make them look as cool as ever with just about any outfit you wear them with.

If you need proof of this classic style's new and approved look, just take a look at the pair Daisy Edgar-Jones wore as sartorial shoe inspiration. The actress and burgeoning fashion muse was seen in London, England, heading to the BBC Studios wearing a glam Gucci black wool crêpe jacket with a detachable GG metal buckle leather belt over a pair of light wash jeans.

The actress accessorized her look with black sunnies, a Blondie mini shoulder bag, and, for a bit of balletcore brilliance, a pair of Horsebit ballet flats in black leather. The style pays perfect homage to the original ballet shoe silhouette but is given a modern update with three mary-jane straps and the brand's signature horse-bit hardware.

Classic shoes, like ballet flats, with a bit of stylish edge take the guesswork out of choosing footwear because, with these updated styles, you can rest assured knowing that they will look good no matter if you are channeling your inner Black Swan or Carrie Bradshaw, tutus and all, or just strolling down the sidewalk in a T-Shirt and pair of jeans.

Below, check out editor-approved ballet flats inspired by the actress's pair that you'll want to add to your cart ASAP.
