“The Daily Show” correspondent Dulcé Sloan will not return, says she 'couldn't be prouder of' her work there

Dulcé Sloan is leaving 'The Daily Show'

Dulcé Sloan is signing off The Daily Show.

"There is work that I've done over the past seven years with The Daily Show that I couldn't be prouder of," she captioned an Instagram post of a news story about her departure on Friday. "I collaborated with some incredibly talented people who I look forward to continuing to work with and I know our paths will continue to cross."

The comedian couldn't help but close with a joke: "I am now free to pursue my dream job of being a live action Klingon on Star Trek."

Sloan had recently completed her contract with the Jon Stewart satire and the split was amicable, EW has learned.

A spokesperson for the show told EW in a statement, "Dulcé Sloan is an exceptional comedic force and we are thankful for her hilarious seven year run on The Daily Show.  We wish her the best and look forward to watching her next chapter."

According to a Deadline report, Sloan also recently moved from the show's New York City headquarters to Los Angeles, where she planned to concentrate on her stand-up and acting projects, such as an upcoming comedy special and a tour.

During her run, Sloan was part of the team that won the 2024 Emmy for Outstanding Talk Series. She also hosted the Comedy Central show during the search for someone to replace Trevor Noah.

Sloan, the author of the 2024 book Hello, Friends!: Stories of Dating, Destiny, and Day Jobs, will continue to voice a character on Fox's animated The Great North.

Having acted since she was a child, she's also voiced a character in Paramount+'s animated Star Trek: Lower Decks. She's also appeared in live action projects such as the 2020 Malin Akerman-Alec Baldwin movie Chick Fight.

The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central.
