Dad of 2 Sisters Found Dead in River Says Their Triplet ‘Completely Collapsed’ After First Body Was Identified

The father of two sisters who were found dead in a river weeks after they disappeared is speaking out.

Scotland Police said the remains of 32-year-olds Henrietta Huszti and Eliza Huszti were found in the River Dee on Friday, Jan. 31, more than three weeks after they disappeared on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

Miklós Huszti, the girls’ father, told a local Hungarian news outlet that he “almost felt sick” after learning that his daughters were missing. He had not heard from the Tornyospálca women for over 12 years but learned about their disappearance through his son.

“For weeks I had hoped that they would be found safe and sound, or at least that they would give me news of themselves, but deep down, I knew that something had happened to them,” Miklós said in a Hungarian language interview, which has been translated.

He added, “About a month ago I had a bad feeling, and I told my wife that I was afraid that the girls would be in trouble. I wish I hadn't been right!”

Henrietta and Eliza — who have a triplet — moved away from Hungary shortly after their parents divorced, their aunt Marika told the outlet.

Miklós said he learned that Henrietta had been identified as one of the victims based on an angel tattoo she had on her body.

“I have never felt such pain before,” the father recalled. "Editke, my third daughter also completely collapsed."

Scottish police previously said a text message was sent "from Henrietta's mobile phone to their landlady at 2:12 a.m." the morning they disappeared, from an area near to where they were last seen.

The message indicated "they would not be returning" to the apartment and “the phone was then disconnected from the network and has not been active since,” police said. Their personal belongings “were found inside the flat” the next day.

Miklós told the local Hungarian news outlet that he is not convinced that his daughters sent the message, but instead believes “someone else or others who cheated and kidnapped my children."

“I have no idea what happened to my daughters, but I'm sure they didn't commit suicide,” he said.

However, police noted that "there are no apparent suspicious circumstances." An investigation is ongoing.
