Crikey! Robert Irwin graduates high school at 15
At 15, Robert Irwin is already a global star thanks to his family’s television ventures and unrelenting commitment to protecting wildlife.
And now the teen can add high school graduate to his resume, after finishing secondary education three years ahead of his peers.
The late Crocodile Hunter Steve’s only son made the announcement on Instagram, telling fans he’s “excited for what’s ahead”.
“Over a decade of study - in planes, trains and thousands of hotel rooms in all corners of the world, and today I’ve graduated from high school,” he wrote.
“Grade 12 and 2 TAFE certificates done!”
Robert the scholar
In an attached snap, the proud scholar is seen studying at his laptop alongside pet pug Stella while surprisingly not wearing his trademark khakis.
Both Robert and older sister Bindi were homeschooled at Australia Zoo for their entire education, an arrangement which allowed flexibility for their wildlife and media commitments.
"Every day is different because, obviously, we live at a zoo," he told Perth Now of the experience in 2013. "We're the luckiest people in the world."
"We have two teachers, one for Bindi and one for me," he said. "When we're travelling we have one who teaches both of us.
In his celebratory graduation post, the Irwins’ bevy of celeb pals were quick to congratulate the teen on his momentous achievement.
“Huge congrats,” wrote Lisa Wilkinson. “A heck of an effort with so many passion projects on your plate. Enjoy this moment.”
“Congratulations!” added presenter Amanda Keller. “What an achievement.”
