Costco Shoppers Are Riled Up Over This Fan-Favorite Bakery Item's New Price
It’s no secret that Costco’s bakery department delivers the goods. And between recent releases like banana nut loaves and almond croissant pastries, it's hard to imagine shopping anywhere else for our favorite baked treats. The problem is, due to supply chain issues, inflation and higher production costs, some of our favorite deals have been going up in price.
While February is shaping up to be a month chock-full of exciting releases, a bit of back-end business can always be expected behind the scenes. The difference between Costco membership holders and everyone else, however, is that they aren’t afraid to vocalize their disappointment when a popular item receives a price hike. Such is the case now for the brand’s famed Butter Croissants, as customers online have been up in arms over the new price.

“Food court soda went up 10-cents a couple weeks ago,” one customer wrote in response to a post shared to Reddit regarding the new butter croissant 12-count price. “Today’s sale was yesterday’s normal price,” another reluctantly wrote.

The post highlights a $1 increase in Costco’s family-sized butter croissant offering, officially making the product $6.99. While some people may still see the value in this price, the increase is just another example of our favorite deals falling victim to inflation.
“A dollar up and [they] haven't been as good for a while,” one person wrote in disappointment. “We noticed a lot of products up 50¢ to $1+ during our weekly Costco run for the essentials,” another added.
The important thing to keep in mind until prices get way out of hand is that Costco’s croissant 12-count variety is actually still an incredible deal. As one commenter pointed out on Reddit, “I’ve been paying $5.62 for ONE croissant at a hotel for 3 days since I was on a business trip last week, I have no complaints about paying $6.99 for 12.”
And that's a sentiment we can certainly agree with. At just under $0.60 a croissant, you really can’t go wrong with this deal. We understand the disappointment some customers feel when their favorite grocery items go up in price, but for now, we have to side with Costco on this one being an easy pill to swallow. Here’s hoping we aren’t forced to eat our words this time next year though.
