Costco Is Selling What Shoppers Are Calling an 'Apocalypse' Bucket — Featuring 150 Meals That Last 25 Years

Costco is prepared for any type of disaster.

The retailer's Readywise Emergency Food Bucket, which shoppers have dubbed the "apocalypse" bucket, has 150 freeze-dried and dehydrated meal servings that can last for up to 25 years.

With an online price tag of $79.99, the bucket includes "80 servings of hearty entrees & sides, 30 servings for nourishing breakfasts and an additional 40 drink servings," per an online description.

Each of the meal options, which include teriyaki rice, tomato basil soup, pasta Alfredo, cheesy macaroni and apple cinnamon cereal, combine for a total of 25,280 calories, the description added.

"This meticulously curated package goes beyond just food – it's about readiness in the face of uncertainty," Costco said of the bucket. "... In a world where unpredictability has become a constant, our assortment takes on a vital role in emergency preparedness."

The Costco item has gone viral after cookbook author Jeffrey Eisner shared a video on Instagram about it.

"They have buckets that they’re just calling emergency food supply," Eisner said in the clip. "… I guess this is for when the apocalypse hits, which could be any time now?”

“So you know when the world collapses and caves in, as long as you have your Readywise Emergency Food Supply, all is right in the world,” he added. “I really want to sample this.”

In the comments section of his post, viewers couldn't help but poke fun at the item, with one person asking, "Does Costco know something?"

One other questioned, "If the apocalypse comes, where are you getting fresh water to prepare these dried meals?" while another jokingly said, "If there's no wine, I don't want it!"
