Is there anything better than a plate of hot, crispy-on-the-outside, fluffy-on-the-inside french fries? It can make or break a meal. If you have a great burger with cold, floppy fries on the side, suddenly that burger doesn’t taste as good. Whether you’re getting the combo from a fast food restaurant like McDonald’s, a sit-down casual chain like Red Robin, or at home, the quality of one often affects your perception of the other.
Making a good burger at home is undoubtedly easier than making good fries from scratch, hence why we usually opt for frozen. And if you have tried many brands of frozen fries and always been disappointed, there’s good news. If you’re willing to try one more, Costco's latest frozen find may be what you’ve been searching for.
New Kirkland Signature Extra Crispy French Fries
Instagram's @costcohotfinds recently introduced followers (and us) to a new product at the warehouse store: Kirkland Signature Extra Crispy French Fries. The french fries come in a 5-pound bag and can be baked or air-fried. Laura Lamb, who runs the Instagram account, opted for the latter option, using the air fryer to cook the fries for 16 minutes at 400 degrees F.
“These came out so good,” Lamb said in the video. “They’re crispy and they have the best flavor.”
“These rock in the air fryer!” one follower commented.
“Ohhh my kids are fries connoisseurs lol I’ll have to pick some up,” said of her followers. Another parent had high hopes for the new fries. “Whenever I go get my kids nuggets at Costco I always have to go to a different store to get fries to go with them so I’m actually pretty excited,” she said.
The promise of these “extra crispy“ fries is enough to make us skip the McDonald’s drive-thru the next time a fry craving strikes. The price is pretty good, too—a 5-pound bag costs just $6.79, leading one commenter to say, “That price. Gotta make space in the freezer now.”
Of course, you can eat these fries plain or with ketchup, but we love the idea of a good, flavorful dip. We have several variations of Fry Sauce on Allrecipes including Spicy Fry Sauce, Idaho Fry Sauce, and European Fry Sauce, and with a 5-pound bag to go through, you can try all three.
