Costco Just Brought Back a Seasonal Fan-Favorite Bakery Item, and It's Guaranteed to Fly Off Shelves Fast
When Costco empties its shelves of a fan-favorite item, chances are it's not the last you’ll be seeing of it. The popular bulk retailer knows a thing or two about customer taste preferences, and once an item creates waves across the internet, it basically solidifies itself as a Costco staple. Try removing anything from the beloved food court menu, and the outrage online will tell you all you need to know about a membership holder's relationship with their favorite foods.
Not safe in any way from customer opinions, Costco’s bakery has a long history of releasing one fan-favorite concoction after the next. This summer alone, we’ve already seen customers flip out over getting a taste of the popular Orange Dreamsicle Cheesecake, and with fall on the horizon, we’ve now been blessed by the return of Costco’s famed Pumpkin Pie. And just when things seemed as though they couldn’t get any sweeter, everyone’s favorite bakery just brought back the caramel-based treat of the season: Caramel Tres Leches Bar Cake.

Tres leches is a sponge cake that is traditionally soaked in sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk and cream to create a beautifully moist and fluffy dessert that can be topped with a whipped cream frosting or served with a meringue topping. Costco’s delicious caramel take on the Mexican and Nicaraguan-born dessert features two layers of sponge cake with an incredibly sweet caramel custard mousse in between. The entire dessert weighs a whopping 2.75-pounds and retails for a sugary sweet $17.99.
“This bar cake is so moist, spongy and delicious,” Laura Jayne Lamb of Costco Hot Finds said in her post. “Perfect with a cup of coffee,” she continues, “this cake will melt in your mouth!”
Those in the market to nab their caramel flavored dreams should be weary of the fact that this tres leches cake offering is a return fan-favorite that is likely to see a lot of foot traffic in its vicinity. Nobody is stopping you from stocking up and freezing a couple cake bars ahead of the fall season, as we know the chances of our local Costco bakery selling out are pretty high.
