The Costco Food Court Item Customers 'Demand' to Be at Their Locations

Much like the size of its larger-than-life warehouses, Costco has generated an equally large fanbase, with shoppers going the extra mile (literally) to showcase their love for the members-only discount club. We’ve seen a Costco-themed birthday party, a trendy Costco x BTS merch collab and even an entire subsection of internet influencers like @costcohotfinds come to prominence just by sharing what hot new items you can find in stores this week.

Aside from the incredibly consistent food court and the lower-than-average prices on just about everything from paper towels to savory pastry sticks, the allure seems to be the feeling that you’re in an elite club reserved only for the most economical shoppers. It’s a masterclass in marketing that should be studied.

Still, some fans take their love for the bulk grocer a giant step further and have made a habit out of stamping their literal passports and taking trips to Costco locations all over the globe. Superfans have documented their travels from Canada to the U.K. and even New Zealand, and shared the differences between homegrown Costco stores and international locations worldwide.

Sure, there are apparent differences in the products stocked in stores depending on where you are in the world, but the food court always seems to be a point of contention among die-hard shoppers. You might find California rolls at one, poutine at another—or maybe even fried chicken.

That’s right folks, according to world travelers on the Costco-focused Reddit thread you can pick up a bucket of golden brown delicious fried chicken at Costco in China, and fans are demanding we get it here in the states. Retailing for 43.9 Yuan or about $6.17 USD, the bucket of chicken appears to come with at least eight extra crispy pieces and for that price, we might just grab two buckets on our way out. One shopper summed up our thoughts exactly by saying, “A bucket of fried chicken on the way out would really make up for how busy my Costco usually is!”

Other notable additions to the Chinese Costco menu include the bulgogi bake, what appears to be bao and the ever-elusive combo pizza. We might just have to become Costco world travelers ourselves—or at least find a way to fit a combo pizza and a bucket of chicken into our carry-on.
