Cooper Koch Gushes Over Boyfriend Stuart McClave for Keeping Him 'So Grounded': 'He’s Been the Best Partner'
Koch said McClave "pulls me down to the earth" at the 2025 Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 5
Cooper Koch is professing his love for boyfriend Stuart McClave.
The Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story star, 28, was joined by McClave at the 2025 Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 5, marking their red carpet debut. The pair have kept their relationship mostly private, but Koch gushed to Entertainment Tonight about McClave at the awards ceremony.
“He’s just got me so grounded and pulls me down to the earth and holds me when it’s a lot,” Koch explained. “He’s been so supportive and sweet, and he’s been the best partner I could ask for.”
McClave then chimed in, saying: “It’s very easy to do that — be the best partner to Cooper. He’s so sweet!”
The actor had an exciting night at the 2025 Golden Globes. Despite not taking home any wins, Koch was nominated for his first Golden Globe for best performance by a male actor in a limited series for his role as Erik Menéndez, and the show itself was nominated for best limited series, anthology series or motion picture made for television.
Koch has become a breakout star in the Ryan Murphy-led crime series since the release of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story in late September. The Netflix show tells the real-life story of Erik (Koch) and Lyle Menéndez (Nicholas Alexander Chavez)'s murder of their parents José and Mary Louse "Kitty" Menéndez. It then follows them into the subsequent trial in the early '90s.

Koch shocked fans in October when he appeared on Watch What Happens Live wearing what seemed to be a wedding ring. He later clarified on an episode of Sirius XM's Andy Cohen Live, that he was not engaged, but he confirmed he and McClave are very happy together.
"We were going to the Emmy Awards with my brother Payton, who was nominated for editing for Only Murders in the Building, my twin and I were getting ready, and I didn’t have any jewelry on,” he recalled on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live in October 2024. “And I was with my boyfriend and we went into my room and I was looking through my jewelry and I had this ring that was my grandfather’s. I was like, ‘Oh, I should just wear this ring.’ Then we just put it on my ring finger and it just became this little romantic and protective mechanism.”
"I just wanted to like trip people out a little bit and see what they would say," he added.
McClave doesn’t wear a ring on his left finger, but Koch assured fans that his partner was "very much committed to me as much as I am to him."
"We have talked about that, and we do need to get him a ring, but it's really more of just like a nice totem," he smiled.
