As someone who simply despises doing the dishes more than ordinary people, it’s super unfortunate that my apartment does not have a dishwasher. I also work remotely, meaning that I make breakfast, lunch, dinner and midday snacks at home. Basically, I use a lot of dishes — and it sucks.
Well, the other day, my brother’s lovely, amazing, show-stopping, one-of-a-kind, etc. etc. girlfriend shared the most genius life hack with me: A mini portable countertop dishwasher. Yes, it’s a little dishwasher that you just put on your countertop (or wherever else you want to), and it actually washes your dishes like a big one would.
When I asked her if I should get one, she said: “I could talk about this dishwasher all day. I’m, like, frickin’ hooked.” (She does, and she is.)
OK, so the COMFEE’ countertop dishwasher magic is actually pretty simple. And before you ask, no, you don’t even have to hook the dishwasher up to your water supply if you don’t want to. It has its own reservoir that you can fill so that you can bypass that process altogether. And, yes, it does fit in her very small apartment.
Re: storage, the teeny machine is small but mighty. The COMFEE’ countertop dishwasher can fit 30+ different items, including but not limited to about 14 pieces of silverware, six plates, a couple of glasses and mugs and even a large serving platter.
On top of the refillable water reservoir, this dishwasher has a regular three-prong plug, a recess for you to put in your detergent and six cleaning cycles to choose from, including a fruit and vegetable cleaning cycle. Nope, not lying. Other magic includes an adjustable shelf, sliding rollers and foldable flip tines to make room for pots or pans, 72-ventilated storage, 167-degree air drying and the most intuitive setup instructions.
The dishwasher also only uses about a third of the amount of water when hand-washing the same amount of dishes. And then, when you factor in all of the dish soap, sponges and lotion to heal your dry, cracked hands, you’re also saving money.
Obviously, the main benefit of having a small baby countertop dishwasher is that you finally have a dishwasher in your apartment. The dream! However, the biggest benefit, she explained, has to do with her mental health.
“When I’m in a depressive spiral, feeling super anxious at work, or whatever else, those little adult tasks like having to hand-wash all of my dishes are super overwhelming,” she told me. “I just couldn’t do it. Everything would pile up, and it would trickle into the rest of the living space, making my spiral worse.”
And then she found the COMFEE’ countertop dishwasher. Not worrying about doing (and not doing) three rounds of dishes for her brain and living space to be clean has taken so much stress out of her day — and now her space is even cleaner because of said trickle.
She still does serious work for her mental health, and obviously, the cute little dishwasher hasn’t solved everything. Still, it’s a dope bonus.
When it comes to numbers, the COMFEE’ countertop dishwasher weighs 36.6 pounds, and the dimensions clock in at 17.13 inches deep x 16.53 inches wide x 17.24 inches tall. Just make sure that your countertop (or wherever else you put it) can hold it!
While I trust the word of my brother’s girlfriend with my whole heart (she’s the best), over 2,500 Amazon shoppers are also obsessed with this portable miracle of a countertop dishwasher, giving it 4.3 out of 5 stars. And, like, those Amazon reviewers are brutally honest.
TL;DR: The mini dishwasher is cute, small, convenient, and washes your dishes. And clean dishes = happier dish users.
