Coca-Cola’s Newest Soda Launch is One You Might Not Expect
For centuries Coca-Cola has been the industry standard among beverage and soft drink brands, setting the trends that smaller corporations follow today. Since its inception, Coke has had its roots in disrupting the status quo and they’ve continued that legacy with mostly uninterrupted success.
But as more consumers opt for healthier alternatives to sugar-laden sodas and adopt eating habits that focus on supporting immune and gut health, Coca-Cola is starting to feel the pressure to capitalize on a growing off-shoot of the soda market already full of disruptors in their own right. The deck is stacked with brands like Poppi, Olipop, Perfy, and the stunning rebrand of Slice Soda, paving the way for a new generation of conscious soda drinkers—but where does that leave Coke?

Sure, they could put in a bid on one of these buzzy emerging brands and welcome them into the fold of already popular Coca-Cola branded products—or, they could enter the arena with an option of their very own. And akin to their disrupting roots, that’s exactly what they’re doing. The iconic soft drink and beverage conglomerate announced their new line of prebiotic sodas on Tuesday and we can’t wait to give these a try.
Launched under their fan-favorite Simply Beverages umbrella, the new better-for-you-sodas will be made with “real fruit juice, no added sugar, and no compromises" according to the brand's website.

Dubbed Simply Pop, the lineup will feature five delicious flavors—pineapple mango, lime, strawberry, fruit punch and citrus punch. Each 12-fluid-ounce can will feature a whopping 6-grams of prebiotic fiber compared to Poppi’s 2-grams and Slice’s 5-grams. Olipop still clocks in with the most prebiotic fiber per serving at a healthy 9-grams per can, but the addition of added sugar might cause interested fans to opt for Simply Pop’s no added sugar offering instead.
While they aren’t available nationwide just yet, the juicy new soda is rolling out this month to stores such as Target, Publix and Albertsons in the West and Southeastern U.S. Additionally, you’ll be able to get them shipped straight to your door via Amazon Fresh for $2.49 a can.
With that, the prebiotic soda wars have officially begun. Your move Poppi.
