He will report to Cayetano Fabry, Gucci’s chief commercial officer, a new role at the company, which he assumed last August joining from Saint Laurent.

Marque succeeds Federico Turconi, who exited Gucci last October to take on the role of CEO of the SA Hospitality Group, which includes 14 Sant Ambroeus locations, 12 more for Felice and one Casa Lever restaurant. Fabry had held the Gucci position ad interim.

Gucci will rely on Marque’s 25 years of experience in brand, merchandising and retail management.

He started his career at L’Oréal Luxe, where he took on retail, commercial and general management roles of increasing responsibility, both in Europe and Asia, for most luxury brands of the group, starting with Lancôme, Yves Saint Laurent and Giorgio Armani.

After more than 10 years, he joined Hermès as general manager, fragrances France & Benelux, creating their first beauty subsidiaries.

Afterward, Marque joined global travel retailer of luxury products DFS Group, a subsidiary of LVMH Möet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, serving as president global merchandising, partnering with all key luxury brands across fashion and watches and jewelry. His past responsibilities at DFS also included the executive vice president marketing role.

As part of Gucci‘s turnaround, Cantino is developing new teams in key areas, looking at streamlining operations and sharpening the decision-making process.

On Jan. 1, Francesco Falai, previously Gucci’s senior vice president of global people, retail and business, assumed the role of chief people officer, succeeding Luca Bozzo.

At the end of December, Valérie Leberichel joined Gucci as senior vice president of global communications, reporting to Cantino. She was previously global vice president of communications at Givenchy. Following the exit in November of Alessio Vannetti, Gucci’s executive vice president and chief brand officer, his role became part of Leberichel’s purview. Cantino established the new role of vice president of digital marketing and media, filled by Marcello Mastrogiacomo, from Armani Beauty Global, and hired Daniela Raganato from Valentino as global media director.

Davide Buzzoni joined Gucci from Loro Piana as global communications director in September. A previous key hire was that of Massimo Vian, who joined from Prada as chief industrial and supply chain officer.

Cantino, a former Louis Vuitton and Prada Group executive, on Jan. 1 succeeded Jean-François Palus, reporting to Francesca Bellettini, deputy CEO of parent Kering in charge of brand development.
