The latest viral drink has Chrissy Teigen’s stamp of approval.

The cookbook author, 38, tried her hand at what the internet is calling fluffy soda. The trendy beverage has creators coating the inside of a glass with marshmallow fluff, scooping in ice cubes and pouring in Coca-Cola. The result is said to make for a creamy and rich drink, similar to a root beer float. But some creators, like the model and mother of four, add their own twist to the recipe.

Right off the bat, Teigen cracked her usual jokes. “I came across this fluffy Coke trend the other day when I was neglecting my kids and as a lover of soda, I thought, ‘F— it, why not,’” she said in an Instagram video posted Tuesday, July 23.

The Cravings by Chrissy Teigen founder explained her gripes with TikTokers incorrectly following the trend.

“Now I did notice that some people did not know the difference between marshmallow fluff and marshmallow cream and since I am a trained scientist let me show you,” she said, demonstrating the difference with two jars. “Marshmallow fluff is fluffy and marshmallow cream is creamy.”

After deciding to follow the drink’s name and go with marshmallow fluff, she showed the camera how she lined her glass with “enough fluff to kill a man.”

Next, she included an additional and extra-sweet step that was not in all other recipes. Teigen added a few pumps of vanilla-flavored syrup to her glass because “we are all going to die anyhow.”

When it came down to adding her ice cubes, she chose to use pebble-shaped ice but said, “Feel free to use the $70 kind from Erewhon.”

Teigen opted for Dr. Pepper instead of Coca-Cola and let it sit for a few minutes so the soda could mix with the fluff.

“And yeah of course it was f---ing great. It’s literally marshmallow, vanilla and soda. If you don’t like it, you’re nuts,” she narrated at the end of the clip while excitedly sipping away at the concoction. In the caption, she reemphasized her enthusiasm for the drink and wrote, “OF COURSE IT WAS GOOD”

The sweet soda’s origin is not exactly clear, but user Emma Grace’s (@not.eg) TikTok with her Memama is one of the most viewed clips. It was posted on July 6 and has nearly 300,000 likes. An earlier video posted on June 28 from Twisters Soda Bar in Pendleton, Indiana also demonstrated how they make the fluff-filled pop.

The drink is reminiscent of the dirty soda trend that took over TikTok in 2022. Dirty soda typically mixes soda with creamer or half-and-half, flavored syrups and lime juice. While it was new to many social media users at the time, dirty sodas have been a longtime favorite in Utah since the 2010s — possibly because of the state’s large Mormon population who don't typically drink alcohol.
