'Chicago Med' Actor Shares First Photos of Newest Family Addition
Chicago Med’s Luke Mitchell is officially a father.
The Australian actor, who portrays Mitch Ripley on the NBC medical procedural, delighted ChiHards with a sweet family update, revealing that he and wife, Rebecca Breeds, welcomed their first child together earlier this month.
The duo took to Instagram to share the first photos of the little one with the world, writing, “Welcome to the world little man. Thanks for choosing us. We love you beyond words 🙏❤️✨.”
A series of snaps accompanied the exciting announcement, and though the bundle of joy's face was kept hidden from the camera, fans got a glimpse of his brownish-blond locks, tiny fingers, and precious little feet.
Further prioritizing the little one’s privacy, the couple remained tight-lipped on the newborn's name.
Mitchell and Breed’s comment section quickly filled up with congratulatory notes from cast members, fans, and fellow celebrities.
Jessy Schram, who plays Hannah Asher, the 39-year-old actor’s on-screen love interest in the One Chicago franchise, commented, “💙💙💙💙💙💙💙.”
His former TV love interest from NBC’s Big Sky, Kylie Bunbury, also chimed in, writing, “CONGRATULATIONS!!!! 🩵,” while The Vampire Diaries actor, Sebastian Roche, added, “Congrats guys❤️.”
Mitchell and Breeds have been together for over 15 years, having first met on the set of the Australian soap opera Home and Away and tying the knot in 2013. They also shared the screen together in 2022, appearing in The Vampire Diaries and The Originals spinoff, Legacies.
Breeds first shared the exciting baby news in November 2024 while displaying her baby bump during a red carpet appearance for her film Kangaroo Island.
"VERY excited to share baby Mitchell and @kangarooislandmovie coming sooooooooon!" she captioned the Instagram shot.
Mitchell seems to be in good company as Chicago PD's Marina Squerciati recently confirmed she welcomed her second child sometime in 2024, explaining her absence from several episodes of the police drama.
Fatherhood may be the most important job for Mitchell right now, but fans can also catch him saving lives and getting into trouble on Chicago Med, airing Wednesdays at 8/7c on NBC and the next day on Peacock.
