Cheryl Hines 'Happy' with RFK Jr. Being Nominated to Trump's Cabinet: He's 'Her Only Political Belief' (Exclusive Source)
Kennedy made headlines earlier this year for allegedly developing a "personal relationship" with a political reporter
Cheryl Hines is “happy” with her husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s recent nomination to president-elect Donald Trump's cabinet, a source tells PEOPLE.
The source adds, “It’s obvious she doesn’t lean right or left — RFK Jr. is her political belief.”
On Nov. 14, Trump tweeted he picked Kennedy to lead the Department of Health and Human Services.
“The Safety and Health of all Americans is the most important role of any Administration, and HHS will play a big role in helping ensure that everybody will be protected from harmful chemicals, pollutants, pesticides, pharmaceutical products, and food additives that have contributed to the overwhelming Health Crisis in this Country,” Trump posted on X.
The nomination would need confirmation by the Senate.
Hours after Trump's tweet, Kennedy, 70, and Hines, 59, enjoyed an evening together at the America First Policy Institute event at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Fla., the source tells PEOPLE.
According to the source, “RFK Jr. and Cheryl looked happy, holding hands, and seemed to enjoy the attention of admirers — including Trump. She was laughing, in her element, and appears to be a supportive wife.”
Kennedy has been at the center of a highly publicized sexting controversy after he allegedly developed a "personal relationship" with a political reporter during his independent presidential campaign.
After the news was made public in September, a source told PEOPLE the following month that the Curb Your Enthusiasm actress and politician had "barely spoken" in the two weeks.
"She's embarrassed because he got caught," the source said of Hines, who went to Europe shortly after the news broke.
However, the couple, who has been married since 2014, has seemingly worked out their issues amongst each other.

In a video posted to X on Oct. 17, Hines and Kennedy were seen cuddling up to one another, while also laughing and sharing a kiss at the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner in New York City.
Trump and former first lady Melania Trump, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and current N.Y.C. Mayor Eric Adams, who was indicted on federal criminal charges in September, were also present for the dinner.
