As he and the audience finished singing the song, Charlie transitioned it into 'See You Again', which he wrote in tribute to Paul Walker for Furious 7.

"Charlie Puth’s tribute to Matthew Perry had every 90s kid mourning," one user wrote on X.

"This made me cry..." another added.

"And now I'm crying," a third said.

"Charlie Puth paying tribute to Matthew Perry by playing the Friends theme song and then transitioning right into 'See You Again'??? Criminal," someone else wrote. "I’m so sad."

"Charlie Puth singing the Friends theme song as a tribute to Matthew Perry AND then he transitions into 'See You Again'?!? I’d be on the floor sobbing," one fan said.

On TikTok, many fans also shared their heartbreak, with one user writing, "I hope Matthew Perry is seeing this and finally knows how much he is loved."

"Knowing and appreciating how much of a Friends fan Charlie is, this is getting me in the feels," another said.

"That transition, my heart can’t take this," a third added.

Matthew passed away due to an apparent drowning at his home after feeling 'fatigued' earlier in the day.

While he had been open about his addiction battle, there were no illegal drugs found at the actor's home, however, law enforcement sources told TMZ that multiple prescription drugs were discovered.

"Authorities found antidepressants, anti-anxiety drugs and a COPD drug in the house," the gossip site claims.

The World Health Organisation states that chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a common lung disease that causes restricted airflow and breathing problems. It is most often caused by smoking and puts sufferers at a higher risk of other health problems.

An autopsy will reveal whether or not any drugs were in his system at the time of his death.
