Channing Tatum is "excited" about his recent engagement to Zoë Kravitz, a source tells PEOPLE.

"It took him a while to feel happy and to find a new life," the source says of the actor who finalized his divorce from Jenna Dewan in 2019. "He can’t stop smiling around [Kravitz]. They are very cute together.”

Multiple sources told PEOPLE exclusively Tuesday that Tatum, 43, and Kravitz, 34, were recently engaged after more than two years of dating. Kravitz seemingly showed off her engagement ring when she and the Magic Mike star were photographed leaving a Halloween party last Saturday.

Kravitz and Tatum first met when Kravitz cast Tatum for a role in her upcoming directorial debut Pussy Island.

"He makes me laugh and we both really love art and talking about art and the exploration of why we do what we do," Kravitz told GQ of her bond with Tatum in November 2022. "We love to watch a film and break it down and talk about it and challenge each other."

"Whether it was making me tea or pouring me a drink or going to whip someone into shape or whatever — he really was my protector and it was really wonderful and sweet," she shared of their relationship at the time. The couple were spotted in public together for the first time on Aug. 19, 2021, when Kravitz was seen wrapping her arms around Tatum's shoulders while he peddled her around New York City on a BMX bike. In September of that year, sources told PEOPLE the pair "continue to be inseparable" during their time in N.Y.C. and that they were dating. Among a number of outings over the last two years, the pair were guests at Margaret Qualley and Jack Antonoff's wedding in New Jersey this past August.

"Channing is serious about Zoë. It's not a casual relationship," a source told PEOPLE around the time that Tatum and Kravitz celebrated their one-year anniversary together. "They have been exclusive for a long time."

Tatum stars in Pussy Island as a "philanthropist and tech mogul" who meets a Los Angeles cocktail waitress played by Naomi Ackie, per Deadline. Naomi Ackie, Christian Slater, Alia Shawkat, Geena Davis, Haley Joel Osment and Kyle MacLachlan will also costar in the movie.

Kravitz was previously married to actor Karl Glusman, and Tatum shares daughter Everly, 10, with ex-wife Jenna Dewan.
