'The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras' Take on Trivia Leads to a Neck-and-Neck Elimination

Last week's episode of The Challenge 40 set up eight players as the "targets" for elimination. That made the daily, this season's iteration of the classic "trivia" daily, that much more significant. The winning duo was then stuck between a rock and a hard place, splitting on loyalties to various eras. It all came out in elimination, where we saw intense bouts between competitors.

Who was eliminated on The Challenge 40 tonight?

Aneesa Ferreira

One of the most storied members of The Challenge, Aneesa is one of the rare players to participate in seasons across all eras. Unfortunately, the theme did not help her, as all of her closest allies were distributed on the other teams. As a result, she became a popular target of Era 1, getting thrown into the first elimination. When Darrell made her a target, she hoped her bond with Bananas and Laurel would help keep her out of the sand. But she was forced in against her in-house personal trainer Jenny. And, despite putting up a fight, her season was cut short.

Horacio Gutiérrez

Horacio came into Season 40 as one of the newer breakout stars of The Challenge, with plenty of acclaim as one of its newest cast members, as well as his girlfriend Nurys. Unfortunately, he lost Nurys almost immediately in the "Eras Invitation," and his heart seemed to go with her. Though he felt his head wasn't in the game, Horacio tried to push forward, especially after being made a target. Unfortunately, Era 4 flopped in trivia, sending him into elimination. Horacio was given his preferred opponent in Derrick. And, in a bout that came down to seconds, Era 1 was able to edge out Era 4, eliminating Horacio.

Who won the daily challenge on The Challenge 40 tonight?

This week's daily marked this season's edition of trivia! The teams answered a series of questions about past seasons of The Challenge, with the team with the most points at the end being crowned the winner. After everyone was thrown into the water, the scores were tied between Eras 2 and 3. It prompted a sudden death showdown between Laurel and Jordan, and Laurel won it for Era 2.

Were there any twists on The Challenge 40 tonight?

No. But, as with last episode, the targets for next week were named. Here are the "targets" going into the next episode:
