Yahoo Lifestyle Celebs Rally Around Al Roker's Daughter Amid Heartbreaking Family News
One of Al Roker's family members is saying goodbye to an important woman in her life.
On February 10, the Today show host's daughter Courtney Roker Laga shared that her mother Alice Bell (who was married to Al from 1984 to 1994) passed away at the age of 70. Although Courtney didn't disclose the cause of death, she went on Instagram to post a heartfelt tribute on how much Alice's presence affected her life. Posting a series of photos that spanned both Courtney's childhood and Alice holding her granddaughter Sky Clara, Courtney shared how Alice will be with her long after her passing.
"She was my mother, my heart, and the most loving grandmother to Sky," Courtney emotionally wrote in the caption. "I was with her for her last breath, and I will carry her love with me always."
When people learned of Alice's passing, it didn't take long for celebrities to reach out to Courtney and offer her words of support.
"Sending love to you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️," Holly Robinson Peete consoled in the comments. "Sending our love," Tamron Hall replied. "Thinking of you ❤️," makeup artist and brand founder Bobbi Brown noted.
Additionally, many of her fans also wanted to give her comfort with their own heartfelt messages.
"Sending prayers through your difficult time 🙏🏽," one person wrote. "Oh no. I’m so sorry. It’s so difficult to lose your Mom. My condolences. Take good care. ❤️," another penned. "I'm so very sorry for your loss. Keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. 🙏❤❤," a different follower added.
As some fans may know, Al and Alice had adopted Courtney back in 1987. After the couple split, Al went on to wed Deborah Roberts in 1995 and have two kids, Leila and Nick. After the loss of his first wife, Al didn't appear on the February 11 episode of Today and Dylan Dreyer took his place as the show meteorologist.
Courtney married Wesley Laga in June 2021 after getting engaged the year before. In July 2023, the couple welcomed Sky — and Al revealed the big news of his first grandchild at the time on the Today show. What's more, Sky made her TV debut a year after her birth in October 2024.
