"I was taking this video to send to my grandmother to show her my carrots," the text on the video reads.  In the video, we see someone pulling up a homegrown carrot, which the video jokes is "kind of a dud." But before we really get a good look at the carrot, it's gone.

Why? "My dog had other plans," the text read. Weller, the adorable Bernese Mountain Dog, loves carrots, and the second this one was pulled out of the ground, he grabbed it and ran quick enough that his parent couldn't quickly grab it back.

Once Weller has solidified that this carrot is all his by carrying it in his mouth, he sits down on the grass and enjoys his reward, a slightly ugly but completely delicious homegrown carrot.

"I wish you would have let me wash it off first," Weller's parent tells him.

"Carrot thievery at its finest," the video caption reads. "To be fair, I grew the carrots specifically for Weller and Annie. Carrots are one of their absolute favorite snacks— they typically get one every night after dinner."

Are Carrots Good for Dogs to Eat?

There are a lot of people food that are not safe for dogs to eat and a lot that aren't only safe but really good to add to their diets. While not all fruits and vegetables are the same, carrots are both healthy too add and one that dogs love to eat, too.

According to the American Kennel Club, carrots are safe to eat, healthy, and a great snack that a lot of dogs love.

"Carrots offer dog owners an affordable and nutritious snack for their pets. In addition, this vegetable is perfect for rewarding good behavior without the calorie count associated with biscuits and other treats," the club explains.

"Some vets even recommend cold or frozen carrots for teething puppies as a way to relieve discomfort."

If you have a small dog, feeding them raw and cooked carrots are great options but its important to make sure you cut whole carrots so they're less of a choking risk. This isn't as big of a concern for larger dogs, but you should still supervise your dog's snacking.

"Talk to your vet about the number of carrots you should feed your dog per day, and ask if there are any other health concerns associated with adding this human food to your dog’s diet," the American Kennel Club suggests.
