Carly Pearce Finally Addresses Maren Morris Feud Rumors

Carly Pearce and Maren Morris

Carly Pearce is speaking out about a potential rift between herself and Maren Morris.

When the "We Don't Fight Anymore" singer recorded a song with Morris' ex-husband, Ryan Hurd, the internet ran amuck with theories that the two must be on the outs, but now, Pearce is addressing all the swirling banter.

"Okay. Since I have seen this all over, I figured I would respond. Ryan has been a friend of mine for over 10 yrs. I was asked by my label to record this song with him for the Petty tribute and of course I said yes because he’s a great artist," she wrote via social media on Monday, March 4, seemingly in an attempt to put any feud rumors to rest.

The country songstress wrapped up her X note by adding, "STOP making something out of nothing!”

Pearce’s explanation was in response to a fan questioning why the country singer was collaborating with Hurd on a rendition of Tom Petty’s hit 1976 single, “Breakdown.”

"First the shade after Maren dropped 'The Tree' & now this lmao," they tweeted, in part, later apologizing upon seeing the reply: "Thank you for clearing it up and apologies on my end. I’ve been told a completely different story from trusted friends & other people and went with it. Apologies again to you & your fans. Will still be a supporter."

Maren was married to Hurd for five years, filing for divorce in Oct. 2023. The former couple shares 3-year-old son, Hayes.

The "My Church" singer recently alluded to taking a step back from country music due to the "toxic" situations she has encountered as of late, but spoke with Billboard for a feature interview for the publication's Women In Music issue about what she's working on now. “I want to talk and explain less and let the music speak for me," she told the outlet. "I’m just compulsively being creative right now. This weighted blanket of burden has been lifted.”

Meanwhile, Pearce's upcoming album Hummingbird is slated for a June 14 release.
