Cardi B Shares ‘Exciting News’ Everyone Has Been Waiting For
Grammy winner Cardi B may be one of the most iconic female rappers of her generation, but longtime fans of the "Bodak Yellow" rapper know that she’s also a voracious consumer of pop culture.
And that’s coming through in spades after her latest unexpected collaboration, when Cardi took to social media to make a big announcement for another disruptor—Netflix.
The official account for the streaming giant’s hit series You posted a video of the "I Like It" rapper on March 9 sitting in front of a microphone with the caption “resident YOU superfan @iamcardib is here with a very special announcement… 👀.”

Cardi started out the video by looking directly at the camera and, in a sultry voice, delivering the iconic line from the series, “Hello, you.”
She then jumped back into her typical energetic self to say, “I’ve got some exciting news to tell you! So, guess what? The trailer of You is coming out tomorrow, and when I tell you, girl, I am shook!”
Cardi continued, sharing that she saw the trailer, and while she didn’t give away too much information, Cardi did share that she was going to be “messy” and revealed that the main character, Joe Goldberg, played by Gossip Girl alum Penn Badgley, “got some money!"
"He got a girl with money, chile. I cannot wait, and it’s like they got a little cute surprise. I cannot wait for you guys to see the trailer, y’all gonna gag,” she continued.
Fans jumped into the comments to praise the collab, writing, “I love this series and I love this woman, I can't believe you guys managed to do this to bring her 😍🤙🏻🗣️,” and “No way you guys got Cardi to do this 😭💗 See you tomorrow folks 🧢.”
Some fans on social media were confused by Netflix’s choice to have the rapper make the announcement, tweeting, “girl why is SHE announcing this?”
This prompted other fans to joke, “Oh we’re losing the ancient texts,” as the “Up” musician has been a vocal fan of the show for years. “So you’re not chronically online I see,” teased another fan.
The season 5 trailer takes Goldberg back to his old stomping grounds, New York City, as he once again grapples with his nefarious secret self in what Netflix is calling a “killer finale.”
The final season of the thriller premieres on Netflix on April 24.
