Buffy the Vampire Slayer star rushed to hospital after health scare

Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Nicholas Brendon has been rushed to hospital following a health scare.

The 51-year-old, who played popular character Xander Harris in the series, was rushed to emergency two weeks ago following a cardiac issue.

His sister posted photos on his Instagram of him laying in a hospital bed with his blood pressure being monitored.

"Nicky sends his love and wanted me to apologise that he hasn't been going live as much lately and to give everyone an update," she wrote.

"Nicky is doing fine now but he had to be rushed to emergency about two weeks ago because of a cardiac incident (tachycardia/arrhythmia).

"Some of you might remember he had a similar incident after his second spinal surgery last year (for Cauda Equina) but this time he is trying to get a little more rest and has been concentrating on medical appointments."

A number of fans left well wishes for the star on the Instagram post.

"You are strong like Buffy," one wrote.

"Focus on yourself! Glad to read that you're focusing on your appointments," another fan said.

"Sending love and well wishes over. Have a speedy recovery," a third added.

Nicholas is best known for starring in Buffy and for his role as Kevin Lynch in Criminal Minds.

He played Xander in Buffy from 1997 to 2003 and starred in Criminal Minds from 2007 to 2014.

Since Buffy, Nicholas has also starred in an episode of Without a Trace and four episodes of Private Practice.

He has been keeping a low profile in recent years, with him last starring in an episode of Dark/Web in 2019.
