Just days after a ‘vulgar’ dress Amanda Holden wore on Britain’s Got Talent sparked official complaints, the TV star has proved she’s not going to let haters stifle her personal style.

The 48-year-old mum-of-two uploaded a picture to Instagram for her 1.1 million followers, showing off her stunning J'Aton Couture gown she decided to don for the final, which featured perfectly placed flower detailing on the bodice.

However, much like other dresses the star has worn over the series this year, there were people online who weren’t impressed with her choice of attire.

“Do you think you can show a bit more flesh? For heaven’s sake,” one person commented.

“Put ‘em away for once in your life luv!” another person said.

Offical complaints to the regulator

And people aren’t just commenting on the star’s Instagram photo, as on Thursday, it was reported that Amanda was hit with nine complaints from viewers via Ofcom, the UK’s media regulator, after Wednesday night’s episode of the talent show.

Her outfit, a gown created by Lebanese fashion designer Nicolas Jebran featured a spiderweb design on the chest, as well as sheer panelling that exposed parts of the judge’s chest, torso and bottom.

The complaints centred around the “revealing” nature of Amanda’s gown.

More complaints were made on Twitter, with viewers voicing their disapproval over the so-called ‘vulgar’ dress, and the fact that it was worn on a show aimed at all ages.

Amanda Holden laughs off the hate

Amanda took the whole thing in her stride, telling The Sun that her “t*ts seem to become the show’s biggest talking point every year” before joking that her husband doesn’t seem to be as put out about her ‘risky’ outfits as the general public.

She went on to say that she found it even more hilarious people were so outraged about the dress, because it was the first time she’s worn nipple covers underneath a gown.

“I’d now happily put it on eBay. But do you know what my children do with them? I get home and take them off, and you know those toys that you throw on to the wall and they stick then slide off?”. she said.

"They throw them at the kitchen cabinets and play games with my nipple covers. We have lovely games.”

In a conversation with the Mail On Sunday’s You magazine, Amanda said she doesn’t let the comments get to her. In fact, she’s pretty delighted people are still getting offended by her body.

“I love it that people are still talking about my tired old breasts and I’m nearly 50,” she said.

“No one talks about Alesha Dixon’s – she’s got great boobs by the way – and she’s eight years younger than me.”

Causing controversy for years

As Amanda said, her outfit choices have been a hot topic on Britain’s Got Talent over the years.

Last week, viewers were worried Amanda would ‘pop out’ of a blue gown she wore, which was slashed at the cleavage.

"Amanda's just about Holden em in,” one person said online, while another said it was a ‘wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen’.

For the final in 2018, Amanda rocked up to the live stage show wearing a plunging black dress by Ali Karoui.

While the star looked stunning in her designer gear, some people couldn’t help but voice their concerns over the risqué nature of it.

“Put ur s*** tits away Amanda, I’m having me tea,” one viewer tweeted.

“Can Amanda stop flashing her boobs please? This is meant to be a talent show, not a porn show,” another added.

In 2017, a plunging black dress by Julien Macdonald meant Amanda was in the bad books with viewers and Ofcom received over 600 complaints about it - making it the number one most complained about thing on TV in 207.

She was called ‘very Kardashian’ and ‘tacky’ by viewers, with one person saying it left ‘nothing to the imagination’.

However, Amanda refuses to let other people’s opinions affect how she dresses and continues to post bikini photos and leg-baring snaps to her Instagram.
