Bride Turns Away Friend's 7-Year-Old Son from Child-Free Wedding: 'I Refused'
An anonymous woman shares how her friend brought her son to her ceremony — despite being told it was no-kids-allowed
A bride says she turned away her friend's 7-year-old son from her wedding after she explicitly told the friend the ceremony would be child-free.
In a post shared to Reddit, the anonymous 22-year-old bride says she and her husband decided on a child-free wedding because she can't have biological children of her own.
"I am unable to have them due to medical reasons, since that is very hard on me, me and my fiancé decided to have a child-free wedding, just so we aren’t reminded of my medical problem, and instead are as happy as we could ever be," she writes.

The only exception to the rule, she writes, were her now-husband's two little sisters, ages 12 and 14. When they gave one of their friends an invite with a plus-one, though, she asked if she could bring her 7-year-old son.
"She mentioned she saw on facebook that my fiancé’s sisters were coming and that it would be unfair to not allow her son to come as well," the bride writes on Reddit. "My fiancé quickly stated she wasn’t wrong and that we should let her bring her son to the wedding, but I refused. She then threatened not to come at all and my fiancé had enough of it telling her not to bring her son before hanging up."
Fast-forward to the big day, and the happy couple was "very excited" — until, that is, they learned that their guest had brought her son despite being told not to.
"As I was preparing, my mom came to my room to tell me my friend brought her son," she writes. "I told her to not allow either of them in and my mom did just that."
She continues: "I woke up the next day to texts from her mentioning how cruel it was of us towards her son, and my husband agreed with her calling me a bad person."
Commenters say the bride wasn't in the wrong, and that the friend should have respected her wishes not to have children in attendance.
"Your wedding wasn't about her. She was explicitly told her child wasn't invited and she decided her desires mattered more," wrote one.
Another added: "She clearly thought you wouldn’t refuse a child once put on the spot. I’d also be telling your new husband his feelings are in the wrong place, he should be supporting you, HIS WIFE. Not someone who was testing your limits."
