Lively’s appearance comes in the midst of her ongoing legal battles with Justin Baldoni. She made her first red carpet appearance since the controversy erupted in late December at the “SNL50” telecast in February in New York City alongside husband Ryan Reynolds.
The premiere of the Amazon Prime Video sequel to “A Simple Favor” takes place Friday at the Paramount Theater in Austin, Texas. “We have almost the whole cast coming in, the old and the new,” Feig said Thursday afternoon.
Feig has been an outspoken supporter of Lively as her and Baldoni’s lawyers and PR teams have been battling in legal filings and the media. “Blake is the greatest,” Feig told me. “I couldn’t love her more. She’s a dream to work with. She’s a great collaborator. She has amazing ideas and it open to everyone’s ideas. She’s a pro.”
Lively is suing Baldoni, who directed their August release “It Ends With Us,” for sexual harassment and for waging a smear campaign against her in the media after she complained about several issues during production. Meanwhile, Baldoni is suing her and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, for defamation.
Premieres of “Another Simple Favor” are also being planned for New York City and Los Angeles closer to the movie’s release on Amazon Prime on May 1.
