Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell welcome baby girl and share sweet name

Bindi Irwin has given birth to a healthy baby girl on the day of her first wedding anniversary to husband Chandler Powell.

Taking to Instagram to share the news on Friday night, Bindi posted her first photo of herself, Chandler and baby Grace as a family.

Bindi revealed her daughter’s name - Grace Warrior Irwin Powell - is a touching tribute to her late father, Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin.

“Grace is named after my great-grandmother, and relatives in Chandler’s family dating back to the 1700s,” Bindi explained.

“Her middle names, Warrior Irwin, are a tribute to my dad and his legacy as the most incredible Wildlife Warrior.

“Her last name is Powell and she already has such a kind soul just like her dad.

“There are no words to describe the infinite amount of love in our hearts for our sweet baby girl. She chose the perfect day to be born and we feel tremendously blessed.”

Grace was born on Thursday evening weighing 7lbs 7oz and measuring 20 inches.

New uncle Robert Irwin posted a snap shortly after Bindi’s announcement of him holding his niece.

“Let the uncle adventures begin! Love you so much, Grace,” he said.

“This little one picked the two best parents in the entire world. The most incredible, caring and strong Mum... and the funnest, coolest and kindest Dad. Love you three so much - I can’t wait for this exciting journey ahead!”
