Parents scramble over each other for Big W toy sale
If you thought people went crazy for Aldi’s weekly special buys, then you’ve never been to Big W’s annual Toy Mania sale.
Photos and videos shared across social media show mums and dads scrambling to nab the best bargains on offer, with some people lining up before midnight ready for the sale that kicked off on Thursday.
Images of people waiting outside stores with empty trolleys have been shared on Facebook and Twitter, but some have described the frenzy as a “total sh*t show”.
“9.30 and I’m ready,” one mum wrote, alongside a photo lining up with empty trolleys outside the Plumpton, NSW, store.
“Staff were lovely... were even running around getting toys for people. Some of the customers on the other hand need to learn how to respect others,” another person shared in a Big W fan page on Facebook.
Plenty of people also shared photos of their successful hauls, with some leaving the store with multiple trolleys full of goodies.
“2.5 hour drive here, just leaving now. 2.5 hours drive home,” one mum wrote, posting a photo of her two full trolleys.
Okay I was the first one in for the Big W Toy Mania sale at Sunbury and spent a lot of money on LEGO. Yes getting prepped up for BV'20 even though I said I will not be there, but things changed and affected my move... https://t.co/eKBqYAFb4C

Min and I are going to the big w toy sale at midnight (I usually go with Geeg but she’s at school camp) and she’s bitching about the slave labour she’ll have to endure lol (pushing the trolley)

Some people however, hit out at those who felt the need to line up in the middle of the night. With others calling out the “disgusting” behaviour of some shoppers.
“How sad to see pics of kids at the toy sale at midnight,” one mum wrote on Facebook.
“I truely can’t believe that grown ass ladies think it is acceptable behaviour to act like twats and cause fights name calling over a toy sale,” an angry mum posted. “Would you want your kids acting like this?”
Blockbuster films, nostalgic brands and online sensations are the three big trends of this year’s toy sale.
Some of the top picks include new film-themed LEGO sets from $29, remote controlled Skate & Sing Elsa ($59) and the Toy Story 4 Talking Figures - now $15, save $14.
For those wishing to avoid queues, online shopping with home delivery or in-store Pick Up is an excellent option.
