Small pleasures are keeping us entertained at the moment as we continue to spend time at home, and lots of people are finding a pick-me-up in beauty products.

Though many of us are conscious of being more reserved with our money, the make-up artist in me still feels strongly about high performing products.

Here are some of the things I’ve been experimenting with that make me feel as great as if I had invested in a counterpart four times the price.

Everything in this line up is £10 or under, but quality isn’t compromised in the slightest.

1. The Ordinary Serum Foundation | £5.70 from Cult Beauty

This was one of those cult products that was almost so hyped I didn’t bother to investigate it.

When I finally caved, I could see why. A sheer, buildable fluid, this sits gently on the skin and blurs the appearance of any texture or fine lines.

Use alone for a soft finish, double your dose for a bit more coverage, or team with a concealer for a completely flawless look.

It’s quite dewy, so you may wish to set this with a little powder for a velvety finish.

2. INC.Redible Cosmetics Bounce Blush in My First Love | £8 from Lookfantastic

INC.Redible Cosmetics is the new sister brand to Nails Inc.

Cutesy packaging aside, the formulas are pigmented and add a youthful glow to the skin.

I’m always a fan of cream blushers because I think they add more radiance, and this whipped mousse sits softly over your foundation when patted in gently with fingers.

3. Collection Bounce Back Eye Colour in Bronzed Up 3 | £2.99 from Boots

When it comes to high street beauty, Collection has always been a firm favourite of mine.

Lots of their products truly perform as well as their luxury counterparts, and this shadow is a prime example.

With the hold and colour pay-off of a powder but the texture of a cream, this shimmering rustic gold makes a sexy smoky eye that is super easy to blend.

Application is foolproof because it’s best applied with your ring finger.

4. Collection IncrediBrow Brow Kit | £3.99 Superdrug

A great multi-tasking brow kit, this small palette can be used to shape your brows any which way.

With three brow shades in the kit, you can create the illusion of a soft, dense brow using the lightest shades, or a sharp, sculpted brow using the deepest shade.

Seal it all in place with the gel, or use the gel alone to simply lock your brows in to a polished position.

5. Collection Primed and Ready Illuminating Setting Powder | £3.99 from Boots

The smallest touch of powder can make the world of difference to sealing your make-up in place.

If you don’t want to lose the glow, this powder is just the ticket because it has a pearly quality to it that still leaves the skin looking luminous.

Apply a little around the nose and down the T-zone, and anywhere else you are prone to shine or the perils of runaway make-up.

6. L’Oreal Infallible More Than Concealer | £9.99 from Boots

To be honest with you, I rarely reach for concealer and prefer to build coverage with my foundation.

But when I do use it, I like lightweight formulas with maximum coverage - which this delivers on.

Press a little on top of your foundation in any areas that need more cover. By only using it here and there, you’ll cheat the illusion of hardly wearing any make-up, because you won’t be creating that full-cover finish all over.

7. Peaches and Cream Lip Liner in Feline | £4 from PrettyLittleThing

If Peaches and Cream isn’t on your radar yet, check out their Instagram page @PeachesMakeup.

Despite offering high-street prices, the quality of their product line-up is second to none. Their lip liners are all brown in tone – not pink or red like most nude products – and they glide on quickly but then set for the day.

8. Peaches and Cream Lip Gloss in Babe | £7 from PrettyLittleThing

By teaming a darker liner with a lighter gloss, you’re essentially contouring the lips and creating the illusion that they are a little more full.

Blot a tiny bit of gloss onto lips for a fresh finish, or layer the thickness for a more juicy finish.

9. Rimmel Natural Bronzer | £5.99 from Boots

When it comes to high street tan, the likes of Rimmel’s Sun Shimmer instant tan has a cult status.

Let it come as no surprise that their powder bronzer is equally as impactful.

This bronzing powder is instantly warming, and infused with just enough shimmer that it is easy to blend out, but not so much that it looks glittery.

Take this in the areas where the sun would naturally hit: the forehead, temples, down the nose and along the cheeks.

10. NYX On the Rise Volume Mascara | £10 from Lookfantastic

Something I find more often than not is that mascara says one thing and does another.

Despite the fact that I don’t quite find this volume mascara to be especially volumising, it is great at separating the lashes.

For a fluttery veil of lashes - not a clump in sight - this is a truly wonderful mascara.
