Ben Platt Releases Vulnerable New Single 'Andrew' Accompanied by a Heart-Wrenching Music Video
The moving ballad is the first track off Platt's upcoming album 'Honeymind,' set for release on May 31
Ben Platt is back with new music!
The Grammy-winning singer released his newest single, "Andrew," off of his upcoming third album, Honeymind, on Friday, along with a music video directed by Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour's Sam Wrench.
Honeymind, which will be released on May 31, was named for the "honey-like" state of being in love. "All the jagged thoughts and fears and anxieties in my brain are slowly smoothed out, until my mind is coated with warmth and sweetness," Platt explained in a press release.
The folk-leaning album's first single, "Andrew," tells the story of an unrequited love Platt had for a straight man, with the Dear Evan Hansen actor singing, "You don't wanna kiss me, 'cause I'm not at all/Likе the girls in the posters that hang on your wall/What a timе wasting heartbreak to fall/For an Andrew."
The music video flashes between Platt singing in iridescent blue lighting and clips of a high school boy gazing at his crush from a distance, while he flirts with other teenage girls.
Ahead of the song's release, Platt posted a clip from the music video on Instagram, writing, "This one’s very special to me. 🩵."
Though the song tells a heartbreaking story, Platt's love life is in full bloom as he's in the throes of wedding planning with his fiancé Noah Galvin.

Platt and Galvin first got engaged in November 2022 when Platt proposed. However, his proposal was soon followed by Galvin's in May 2023. The two are not only partners in life, but they are also collaborators, working together on 2023's Theater Camp.
"We really align on what we think is funny and what we think is good. Our tastes are very similar, which is one of the largest things that made us fall in love in the first place," Platt told PEOPLE at the premiere of the film in July 2023. Galvin added: "Any moment that we were shooting the film was just joy."
