Mary-Kate Olsen used to be a twin.

But at a recent public appearance with sister Ashley, rather than looking like their usual two vintage darling peas in a pod, the 28-year-olds were easily identifiable.

Yes, they had remarkably different looking faces.

It’s left many wondering if Mary-Kate is the latest Hollywood celeb who has succumbed to the pressure of plastic surgery.

Just last month, René Zellweger's transformed face sparked a Twitter storm.

Now Mary-Kate’s recent New York appearance has reignited the surgery debate on social media, with her face appearing to have had a nip and tuck on her cheeks and jaw line.

TMZ says although she “didn’t quite go full-Zellweger” she looked remarkably different to her once almost identical sister.

“Mary-Kate Olsen USED to be a twin” tweeted @TMZ while @celebuzz wrote “Looks like Mary-Kate Olsen may have had some *cough* work done”.

Meanwhile, @lovebscott tweeted “Is That You? Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen Barely Look Like Twins Anymore” while @AnthonyVargas wrote “Plastic surgery is really starting to freak me out. First Renee Zellweger and now 1/2 of the Olsen twins. I plan to age naturally.”

Despite the fact that they used to look identical, the two are in fact fraternal twins, not identical.

But they used to look so similar, the two both played Michelle Tanner in the 80s sitcom Full House from the ages of six months until they were eight-years-old.

Mary-Kate, who battled anorexia in her teens, is now engaged to 45-year-old Olivier Sarkozy.

Let’s just hope he recognises his fiancé as she walks down the aisle.
