Girls Are Now Contouring Their Necks To Make Them Appear Slimmer

Neck contouring is now a thing.

If Instagram is anything to go by, contouring is not resigned to just the face anymore, with scores of beauty enthusiasts contouring not only their cheekbones but also their necks, collarbones and décolletage as well.

The truly bizarre trend has been demonstrated online by beauty blogger MwHairstyles, who explains that the highlighting and contouring is supposed to create shadows at at the nape of your neck, essentially giving the illusion that you have a slimmer neck.

In the video, the blogger takes her contouring palette and uses a brush to sweep a thick layer of bronzer down both sides of her neck.

She then takes a finer brush and uses it to highlight the middle of the neck.

After some serious blending, her neck is apparently meant to appear more desirable and swanlike if she was to wear her hair in a up-do, a top knot or a ponytail.

While some people may simply take this video as a comedic take on the beauty world, there are others who are worried about possible insecurities stemming from this.

So what do you think? Has the obsession with contouring gone too far or is it make-up shaming to judge anyone who takes part in it?
