Cindy Crawford Talks About Nearing 50 And Her Changing Body

Supermodel Cindy Crawford has spoken out about nearing her 50th birthday and reveals she didn't think about the ageing process until she was in her thirties.

In an extract from her book' Becoming', published in the Sunday Times, the 49-year-old stunner details how it feels to get older in the fashion industry and the pressures on women to stay looking youthful.

'Like most young women, I didn't think about ageing until I was well into my thirties. It dawned on me that at 38 that I wasn't immune to the process,' she says.

'Journalists would ask me how I felt about turning 40, and I would think: 'Whoa!' Let's at least wait until I'm 39 to start talking about it.'

Crawford reveals that her body changed forever when she gave birth to her son Presley and daughter Kaia Jordan and while she would never change that, it made things a bit harder for her in the industry.

'At times the pressure to live up to the fashion industry's expectations feels overwhelming,' she says in her book.

'I can still pull off a miniskirt and 5in heels on set - but probably not in real life.'

Over her 30-year career, Crawford broke records, appearing on every major magazine cover and walking the runway for top designers.

Now she is passing over the baton to her 14-year-old daughter Kaia, who recently made her New York Fashion Week debut as she bagged a front row seat and is expected to become a huge model like her mother.
