The Yorie & Co baby rattle is being recalled because it doesn't meet minimum dimension requirements to avoid choking.

A baby toy sold over Etsy has been recalled, with the product safety watchdog stating the rattle does not meet safety standards and could pose a choking hazard.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), which handles product safety recalls, has issued the notice over Yorie & Co wooden baby stick and cage rattles.

The stick version measures 13cm x 3cm, while the cage version — which is a wooden ball enclosed in a cage of wooden bars — measures 7cm x 7cm.

The Yorie & Co baby rattle is being recalled because it doesn't meet minimum dimension requirements to avoid choking.

The ACCC said the rattles “do not comply with size requirements of the mandatory safety standard for toys for children up to and including 36 months of age.”

“There is a risk of choking, suffocation, or death to young children if they continue to use these rattles.”

The Yorie & Co wooden cage rattle is also being recalled over choking fears.

The rattles were sold nationally online between November 12, 2021 and November 13, 2022.

“Consumers should destroy the product and contact Yorie & Co to arrange a full refund of the rattle,” said the recall notice.
