Bin day gets exciting under coronavirus lockdown
With the majority of the country in near-lockdown, Aussies have been taking advantage of one of the few opportunities to go outside: to put out and bring in the rubbish bins.
Yes, the weekly bin day has become a chance for many cooped-up residents to grab some fresh air and stretch their legs — but also have a good old chuckle.
The Facebook group ‘Bin Isolation Outing’ is celebrating those quirky characters who have decided to turn a mundane task into an all-out event by donning fancy duds or ridiculous costumes.
“So basically the bin goes out more than us so let’s dress up for the occasion!” the group’s ‘About’ section explains.
“Fancy dress, makeup, tutu ....be creative! Post photos to cheer us up after all laughter is the best medicine,” it declares.
The group appears to have been created just days ago and is already flooded with lol-worthy photos and videos of people dragging their bins out while dressed as Pikachu, Kath Day-Knight, a mermaid and more.
It seems to be bringing a little lightness and humour during the ongoing chaos of coronavirus.
“I’ve bin in the group for 24 hours. I’ve bin laughing so hard. It's bin a nice change. Keeping my smile has bin challenging. I love this page,” summed up a fan.
Without further ado, here is but a selection of the delightful dress-ups from bin days across Australia — and the world.
