Ashley Darby is feeling emotional following the news of Karen Huger's sentencing.

Huger was sentenced to two years in prison, with one year suspended, on Feb. 26 over her March 2024 DUI arrest. She was taken into custody immediately following the trial in a Montgomery County Circuit Court, where she was joined by her husband Ray.

On The Tamron Hall Show on Feb. 27, Huger's Real Housewives of Potomac costar opened up about the sentencing, as she told the audience, "I really do encourage everyone to keep Karen in your prayers."

"I really care about her," Darby, 36, continued of Huger. "And I learned this on the train coming here today and I cried like a baby, I did."

Huger, 61, was joined by her husband Ray in court on Feb. 26, and a source told PEOPLE she told him, "You will be alright" and "God's got you" as she was taken into custody.

The reality star has 30 days to appeal the judge's decision and 90 days to ask the judge to reconsider his order. She will also have to serve five years of probation related to the charges.

Huger addressed the arrest and took responsibility for her actions during the RHOP season 9 reunion, which aired in February, as she revealed she'd checked into a private recovery center to "get to the bottom" of "taking antidepressants and drinking" days after she was found guilty on the DUI and DWI charges in December.

“This is very frightening but I accept full responsibility for everything that went on with my car accident," she said in the clip, clarifying, "No, I’m not an alcoholic, let’s be clear."

Her family was her main concern, she said. "I don’t care about me right now. I care about my children, I care about my family. They are so hurt.”

She and Darby have had their ups and downs, and Darby recently upset Huger as she commented on the arrest during the season 9 premiere of RHOP. "We know that Karen has had a DUI before, so I never thought that Karen would be a repeat offender with something like this,” Ashley said in the episode. “This is the same song and dance that I’ve seen from Karen.”

Huger told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live that it was "very painful" to hear Darby say that.

"I mean, you know I care for these women and all I wanted them to do was be patient and wait because it's an ongoing case. But you know Ashley saying what she said — and let's be clear, Ashley needs to be concerned about her relationship with alcohol the way she sucks down the Coronas. I'm just saying."

She wondered if her costars were "wishing me harm," as she continued, "Honestly, I'm hoping to win when it all comes out, but I have to respect the law. When I can speak about it, I plan to be open and transparent as I always have been."

After Huger was found guilty in court in December, body cam footage from her March arrest was released and showed her repeatedly refusing to take a field sobriety test and breathalyzer, according to local outlet FOX 5 DC.

She also told officers that "nothing really" had happened when she was asked about the accident, which Montgomery County Police told PEOPLE was a single-vehicle collision that occurred when Huger crossed a median and struck multiple street signs.
