Ariana Grande Wore a Custom Thom Browne Gown to the ‘Wicked’ Premiere
On Saturday (October 9), Ariana Grande attended the Los Angeles premiere of Wicked, the Jon M. Chu adaptation of the hit Broadway musical. The actor has been honoring her role as the magical Glinda throughout the film’s press tour and walked the red carpet in yet another ethereal pale pink ensemble: a custom strapless ball gown by Thom Browne. The design was constructed from a pink-and-white gingham fabric and came with a matching bolero jacket and gloves.
The dress featured a corset bodice and a hoop skirt that elevated to show off her sparkling heels under its asymmetrical hemline. Ari’s hair was swept into an elegant updo and tied off with a gingham bow and pearl stud earrings, which added a touch more glamour to the classic country print. For makeup, the celeb sported a pale palette with her usual cat eyeliner.
FYI, Ariana has often talked about how her role as Glinda has influenced her style, saying in a behind-the-scenes video, “Glinda’s makeup kind of made me transform my entire look and my entire relationship to makeup. I just love it so much. There’s no thick eyeliner, there’s no heavy crease, it’s just really warm and open and pretty and, you know, the lashes are in a cat shape, which still gives you the cat eye lift that I usually love, but it’s also just a more honest representation of what you look like.”
Similarly, the musician’s co-star Cynthia Erivo honored her own character Elphaba by wearing a rich green latex gown c/o Louis Vuitton complete with cutouts along the torso, plus a matching feathered cape. For accessories, she added a diamond and emerald collar necklace by Roberto Coin from the designer’s Haute Couture Collection.
While filming, the actors became very close friends.
“For some reason, we just connected immediately,” Cynthia told Deadline on November 9, 2024. “Our voices really worked together. And I think from that moment on, we’ve been building, and it’s been the most fruitful relationship of my life.”
Couldn’t be more obsessed with them if we tried!
