Ariana Grande’s Brother Frankie and Her Boyfriend Ethan Slater Hang Out at Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards

Ethan Slater and Frankie Grande were all smiles at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards in California.

On Friday, Jan. 3, during the gala — where Wicked star Ariana Grande, 31, received the rising star award from Jennifer Coolidge — Slater, 32, posed for a photo with his girlfriend Ariana’s older brother, Frankie, 41.

Slater donned a classic black suit while Frankie rocked a sequin blazer and black eye makeup. Ariana, who wasn’t photographed with her brother or boyfriend/Wicked costar, wore a strapless silver ballgown that appeared to draw inspiration from her Wicked character, Glinda the Good Witch.

Ariana’s voluminous skirt was shaped in an oversized circle, similar to a bubble, seemingly a nod to her Wicked character’s means of transportation. She completed her outfit with white pointed-toe pumps.

The photos from the awards ceremony come just days after Ariana ended 2024 with one last look at herself and her boyfriend, who met on the set of Wicked and confirmed their relationship in July 2023.

On Tuesday, Dec. 31, Ariana took to Instagram to highlight 20 photos from throughout the past 12 months as she recapped her year. The photo carousel showed her posing with Wicked crew members and performing and acting with costar Cynthia Erivo.

There’s even a cute blurry photo of her and Slater smiling for the camera as an in-focus Jeff Goldblum takes a selfie in the foreground.

"a year full of art and heart 𖦹 ｡˚ฺ ｡˚·ꕤ.ﾟ!" Ariana wrote in the caption. "thank you eternally for your love and support, words truly don’t suffice. i love you always and am wishing you a all a very happy new year !"

The carousel also featured photos of Frankie and his husband, Hale Leon, which is no surprise since the siblings have always been very close and have shown support for each other throughout the years. Frankie married Leon in May 2022 in a small, Star Wars-themed ceremony held at the Grande family home in Boca Raton, Fla.

In her rising star award acceptance speech on Friday, Ariana mentioned how she started her career in that family home’s living room.

"Being able to play Glinda the Good was not only the honor of my life but it felt like a homecoming," Grande said. "For those of you who don't know, I started out in stand-up comedy. My first professional gig was in our living room in Boca Raton, Fla., [to entertain] my grandparents. I was 4 years old and my mom gave me $5."

"I learned early on that laughter was one of our greatest escapes and I remember the infectious impact that it had, not only on the people in my life, but how it fed me in return,” she continued. “And the past 10 years when I was really focused on music I really missed that feeling. So it really does it feel like the beginning of a new chapter."

Ariana is also nominated for a Golden Globe for her role as Glinda.

As for Ariana and Slater, they first met when they started filming Wicked together in late 2022. Ariana and Slater separated from their then-partners Dalton Gomez and Lilly Jay, they confirmed their relationship in mid-2023.

When it came to public appearances, Ariana and Slater remained low-key for much of 2024, but they were seen together throughout Wicked's press tour ahead of the movie's release in November and continually support each other publicly on Instagram.
