Angelina Jolie Debuted Dramatic Y2K Bangs For Her First Post-Divorce Appearance

Angelina Jolie is embracing a fresh start in the new year with a dramatic hair transformation. The Maria actress closed out 2024 by finalizing her divorce from Brad Pitt, eight years after their split–and she leaned into a new beauty chapter as she stepped out for her first red carpet appearance since the settlement on Friday night. Accompanied by her daughter Zahara Jolie-Pitt, Jolie showed off full Y2K-coded bangs at the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards on January 3.

Beaming as she posed on the red carpet, Jolie showed off different angles off her new layered side-swept fringe, which looked reminiscent of the mid-aughts style once worn by stars like Lindsay Lohan, Megan Fox, and Selena Gomez. She kept the same honey blonde hue with dark undertones and the long length she’s been sporting recently, adding some subtle layers around her face to balance out the fullness of her new bangs.

Jolie, who picked up a Desert Palm Achievement Award at the festival for her performance as the famed opera singer, coordinated with her 19-year-old daughter in a long black silk column dress with a tie halterneck style accentuated with a subtle peephole. A pair of black pointy-toed slingback heels with side mesh cutouts and her signature bombshell beauty look–a warm peach glossy pout, sculpted cheeks, and smudged eyeshadow–completed her first red carpet appearance of the year.

Meanwhile, Zahara was her mom’s sartorial opposite in a white crewneck dress with a flared skirt, a fitted bodice, and a subtle brocade design.

Jolie’s new hair transformation comes after she and ex-husband Brad Pitt officially reached a divorce settlement on December 30, ending an eight-year legal battle. The advocate, who initially filed in September 2016, is reportedly ready for a fresh start.

In a statement shared after the filing, Jolie's divorce attorney James Simon said that she is "focused on finding peace and healing for their family," adding, "Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over."
