Additionally, Osy Ikhile and Nathaniel McIntyre are joining the cast in newly created roles. Antonio J. Bell, who plays Khalil, and Alexis Chikaeze, who plays Preach’s (Kareem J. Grimes) daughter Amina, are being upped to series regulars for Season 7.

Cast turnover was expected for Season 7, after Daniel Ezra exited his role as Spencer James at the end of last season. His character’s arc had come to a close and, in the final episodes, Spencer makes it to the NFL, wins the Super Bowl, and gets married.

Ezra will return for guest appearances in Season 7, and he will direct. Deadline hears that other original All American characters are expected to make guest appearances in Season 7 as well.

According to the official logline, “Season 7 is taking it back to where it all began: Beverly Hills High and South Crenshaw High. It’s the same heart, same NFL dream, same crosstown rivalry, same messy hormones, ushered in by a new generation of LA teens, a new Beverly Coach and our OG vortex fam, who are surprised to find they’re supposed to be the responsible adults now.”

Ikhile will play Cassius Jeremy, the new football coach at Beverly High. He is a family man and tough coach. Oozes charm but doesn’t mess around when it comes to football. Freshly relocated from Oakland with his QB son, Kingston, Coach Jeremy is determined to bring Beverly football back to its former glory, which means taking down South Crenshaw High’s program by any means necessary.

As for McIntyre, he is playing Kingston Jeremy, aka KJ, Beverly High’s newly transferred quarterback.  Naturally gifted, he’s a beast on the field, with a football IQ rarely seen at his age, which doesn’t always make him popular with his new teammates. While close off the field, his relationship with his dad is more complicated on the field. His singular focus is to play for the NFL. He just needs to survive high school, relationships, his complicated family, and a deep-seated rivalry he didn’t sign up for.

All American was renewed for a 13-episode seventh season in June. Its spinoff series, All American: Homecoming is nearing the end of its run on the CW after three seasons, with the finale set for September 30.

The series is from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Studios, with executive producers Nkechi Okoro Carroll, who serves as showrunner, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Jameal Turner, Mike Herro, and David Strauss.
