Clearly, the world’s obsession with Y2K hasn’t waned just yet. Need proof? Just look to stars like Amelia Gray, who continue to channel the formative fashion era with their street style.
The model gave serious turn-of-the-century energy on Sunday afternoon (November 10) when she was spotted on the streets of Milan in an edgy ensemble that was equal parts bundled up and skin-baring.
Amelia looked like a transplant from the early 2000s thanks to her fit, which included a pair of dark-wash, low-rise jeans with discoloration around the knees. The low-hanging pants were cinched with a thick black belt and paired with a white cami, which was layered under a black cardigan from Miu Miu.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum added a few more Y2K touches to complete the ensemble, including a pair of visor-like sunglasses with raspberry lenses and a hot pink barrette clipped into her hair. Oh, and she even sported a pair of wired headphones that snaked out of her pocket—because why go for wireless earbuds when you can fully embrace the aesthetic by plugging in?
Finally, Amelia wore cream sneakers and a black leather handbag that she carried on her shoulder. The whole effect came across as totally effortless but still chic.
For the past couple of years, early aughts style has been making a serious comeback. The trend has become even more accelerated in 2024 with the popularity of things like Charli XCX’s Brat—which embraces the days of posting on MySpace and wearing Von Dutch—and the resurgence of pieces such as low-rise jeans and dramatic headwear. Only time will tell how those trends will evolve in 2025.
