Aussie products set to cause a stir on Amazon Prime Day

Australian small businesses are being championed this Amazon Prime Day after a tough year following the bushfires and COVID-19.

We’ve compiled a list of some of the best products on offer from local brands all around the country.

Crockd was created to “extend a supportive hand to millennials who felt that their relationship with technology was not making them happy”. The at-home DIY ceramic kits are a fun way for people to get creative without the need to look at a screen.

Gobe Australia

Based in Byron Bay, Gobe is definitely a business that likes to give back. Every time someone buys a film or photography product, Gobe funds communities to plant five trees and rejuvenate ecosystems. Since it was founded in 2014, Gobe has planted 3,112,800 trees.

Founded in 2020 by Australian wife and husband, Teigan Margetts and Stuart French, Ethicool Books creates children’s stories about big world issues, such as climate change, mental health and even COVID-19. The sustainable brand’s books are printed using recycled or sustainably-sourced papers and soy-based inks.

Former Cleo Bachelor of the Year finalist Dustin Leonard has opened up Little Ripples, a wine company based out of Manly. A percentage of the sales from the variety of tipples goes towards providing clean drinking water for a person in a developing country. The wine is vegan and 100% Australian owned and produced.

Founded by Rikki Gilbey and based in Sydney, WAW Handplanes are handmade from sustainable, recycled and reclaimed materials from the Great Barrier Reef. The lightweight design is meant to enhance the bodysurfing experience, meaning you can catch waves faster and for longer. They also plant a tree for every timber handplane sold with 4,000 trees being planted so far.

Melbourne brand Sensori+ uses recyclable glass and packaging and creates all natural products. Their pledge is to ‘invigorate all senses’ with a range of items such as soy candles, hand sanitisers, air mists and cleansing oils.

Created by fifth generation winemaker in Mudgee, Tom Maclean, SOFI Spritz is Australia’s answer to an Italian aperitif. Tom scored a $130,000 deal on Shark Tank in 2016 after starting out at Bondi Farmers Markets and now his drinks are sold nationwide. They’re made with all natural ingredients with no added sugar.

Amazon Prime Day begins at 12AM on Tuesday October 13th and runs for 48 hours, until Wednesday at 11:59PM.
