Amazon MGM’s ‘Play Dirty’ Casts Keegan-Michael Key, Nat Wolff, Chukwudi Iwuji & Thomas Jane

EXCLUSIVE: Amazon MGM Studios’ crime thriller Play Dirty has four new additions: Keegan-Michael Key (Wonka), Nat Wolff (Which Brings Me to You), Chukwudi Iwuji (The Day of the Jackal), and Thomas Jane (Troppo).

As previously announced, Mark Wahlberg leads the ensemble, with LaKeith Stanfield, Rosa Salazar, and Tony Shalhoub also set for roles. No word on the roles the new cast members will be playing.

Directed by Shane Black, Play Dirty is the first project based on Donald E. Westlake’s Parker novels, written under the pseudonym Richard Stark, to emerge from a pact between Amazon MGM and Team Downey in 2022. The film centers on Wahlberg’s professional thief, Parker, who after being double-crossed and left for dead, sees his hunt for revenge bring with it a shot at the biggest heist of his career. But even with the help of his partner, actor-slash-con artist Grofield (Stanfield), he’ll still need to outsmart a South American dictator, the New York mob and the world’s richest man if he hopes to stay alive.

Scripted by Black, Charles Mondry and Anthony Bagarozzi, the film is produced by Jules Daly and Marc Toberoff. Exec producers are Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey for Team Downey, Black, Mondry, Bagarozzi, and James Skotchdopole. Ezra Emanuel and Team Downey’s Sam Greenberg are serving as co-producers.

Recently seen starring in Warner Bros’ Wonka and Apple TV+’s acclaimed musical comedy Schmigadoon!, Key was also part of the ensemble of lllumination and Nintendo’s smash hit, The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Among his other upcoming projects is Paramount’s Christmas comedy Dear Santa from Bobby Farrelly, in which he stars opposite Jack Black.

Most recently starring opposite Lucy Hale in the rom-com Which Brings Me to You, Wolff’s other recent credits include the Western feature Murder at Yellowstone City, as well as the Peacock original series Joe vs Carole, based on the popular Wondery podcast Tiger King.

Perhaps best known for his role as The High Evolutionary in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Iwuji can also be seen in Peacemaker for Max and all three seasons of BBC’s The Split. He’ll next be seen starring opposite Eddie Redmayne and Lashana Lynch in the upcoming Carnival Film & Television/Peacock series, The Day of the Jackal.

Next set to appear in the second season of noir series Troppo for for Freevee and AGC Studios, Jane recently exec produced and starred in Westerns Murder at Yellowstone City and The Last Son, as well as the noir thriller Dig. He earned three Golden Globe noms for his work on the show Hung and has also been seen in such classic films as The Thin Red Line, Deep Blue Sea, and Boogie Nights.
