Amazon’s Girl With the Dragon Tattoo Series Moving Ahead With The Killing Showrunner Veena Sud
A TV adaptation of the late Stieg Larsson’s Millennium book series is moving further into development at Prime Video, our sister publication Variety reports, with Veena Sud (The Killing) joining the project as showrunner.
If this sounds a little familiar, that’s probably because news of Prime Video’s adaptation was first reported back in 2020; this is the first update we’ve received since then.

The first novel in the series introduces Mikael Blomkvist, a journalist hired to investigate the disappearance of heiress Harriet Vanger, and Lisbeth Salander, a punky hacker assisting him with the case.
Seven books have been published in the series thus far, the first three of which (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest) were written by Larsson prior to his death in 2004. David Lagercrantz wrote the second trilogy (The Girl in the Spider’s Web, The Girl Who Takes An Eye for An Eye and The Girl Who Lived Twice), while the seventh book (The Girl in the Eagle’s Talons) was penned by Karin Smirnoff, who has two more on the way.
Several of those books have been adapted into both Swedish- and English-language films, including 2011’s The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, starring Daniel Craig as Mikael and Rooney Mara as Lisbeth, and 2018’s The Girl in the Spider’s Web, this time with Claire Foy (The Crown) as Lisbeth and Swedish actor Sverrir Gudnason as Mikael.
