Amazon to Exclusively Stream NFL Wild Card Playoff Game Next Season
Amazon has taken possession of the NFL ball and, for the first time, will exclusively stream a Wild Card playoff game next season via its Prime Video service, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Prime Video will succeed Peacock in the exclusive presentation of a Wild Card playoff game, with Peacock’s streaming of the Jan. 14 game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins proving to be a big ol’ touchdown. With an average audience (AMA) of approximately 23.0 million viewers across Peacock, NBC stations in Miami and Kansas City, and on mobile with NFL+, the Chiefs’ 26-7 win delivered the most-streamed event ever in the U.S., according to Nielsen custom fast national data.

NBCUniversal reportedly shelled out around $110 million for exclusive rights to that Saturday-night Wild Card Weekend game, which marked the first time an NFL playoff game was only available through streaming.
Prime Video’s partnership with the NFL began in September 2022, when the streamer began hosting Thursday Night Football. The NFL’s first-ever Black Friday game, featuring the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets, also streamed via Prime Video last November.
Meanwhile, the current NFL season will come to a close on Sunday, Feb. 11, as the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers face off in Super Bowl 58 from Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium. Coverage of the big game will air not on Prime Video, but on CBS, beginning at 6:30/5:30c.
